I work in Neuropsychology / Clinical Psychology.

I am interested in how the intensity of the social world relates to experiences of psychosis as both the fervor of the urban crowd and the quiet of social isolation have been linked to an increased risk of delusions and hallucinations. One particular interest is how we internalise social relationships – essentially, how we contain the multitudes of our social world within our minds – given that a great deal of the experience of psychosis involves a distorted experience of society to the point of having contact with illusory individuals. Despite this, most approaches to psychosis in cognitive science are very individualistic, they look at what might have gone wrong within non-social processes within ourselves, when social experiences are as much a part of the environment as the physical space we live in.
